FSM for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
Treatment That Works
Success defined in a different way
We began implementing the Beighton Scale and given a review of their medical history suspect that many of these patients likely have EDS or HSD. This has led to the development of a Treatment Program for all ages where we are seeing great success using Frequency-Specific Microcurrent (FSM).
Many patients are seeing dramatic improvement in both pain and mobility. We’ve even had patients who were once primarily bedridden now able to fully function in daily life after undergoing treatment.
Treatment Program
Our EDS study has provided valuable information in the treatment of EDS pain with FSM.
Because of this study, we have implemented a Treatment Program which aligns with the proven
results.
Our 4-week Treatment Program is $990.00 and includes:
Initial exam and assessment along with 10 treatments. This includes 3 scheduled treatments for
the first two weeks, followed by 2 scheduled treatments weekly. It’s imperative that you make
every appointment as each one is vital to your success in this treatment program.
A deposit of $100 is required to hold your spot with the balance due when you begin the
program. Care Credit is available for those who wish to use financing options. You will schedule
out all treatments for these 4 weeks in advance with our dedicated EDS Coordinator. Due to the
great success of our program, we have limited spots available and a waiting list has begun. For
these reasons, it’s vital that you do not miss or cancel an appointment as we cannot guarantee
that another time slot will be available.
At the end of our Treatment Program, you will have the option of enrolling in our Maintenance
Program or purchasing prescribed devices to continue treatment in the comfort of your own
home.
To meet the needs of each individual, we offer multiple maintenance plans in this program.
Every EDSer is different, some will only need one treatment per week at this point, whereas
others may find better success coming more often.
Maintenance Program
These are discounted package sessions that cover 4 weeks of treatment. At the end of each 4
weeks, you have the option to upgrade or downgrade your package or purchase prescribed
devices for home use.
All appointments will be scheduled out in advance with our EDS Coordinator. We see the best results in those who can do 8 treatments for their first month on the Maintenance Program, then transition down to less treatments in the subsequent months.
8 treatments is $500
6 treatments is $390
4 treatments is $260
Add-ons are available for additional FSM treatment sessions, laser therapy (which is very
helpful for dislocations and injuries) and other modalities.
Please let us know in advance of your appointment if any add-ons may be necessary.
We are providing a list of frequently asked questions to assist in your decision to treat with us.
When you are ready to schedule your appointments, please complete the questionnaire below and our
EDS Coordinator will be happy to assist you. We look forward to helping you.
Frequently
Asked Questions!
What is Frequency-Specific Microcurrent (FSM)?
FSM is a non-pharmaceutical, non-surgical, non-invasive and non-chiropractic treatment option to manage EDS symptoms and provide relief of pain. This technology can be found in places such as The Cleveland Clinic, Walter Reed and in professional sports. Addison Chiropractic and Sports Clinic is a certified provider in the use of Frequency-Specific Microcurrent.
The Cleveland Clinic describes Frequency-specific microcurrent (FSM) as “a way to relieve pain using very low levels of electrical current. This treatment option can be used on specific tissues in your body to help with pain caused by injuries or medical conditions. It’s typically painless.”
Cleveland Clinic has the following page providing additional information on FSM: Cleveland Clinic FSM
How long do FSM treatments take?
Treatments last approximately one hour. We have invested heavily in FSM devices so that we have the ability to run all EDS related protocols during your visit.
Will I be comfortable during my treatment?
To best suit the specific needs of each patient, we offer treatment in a fully reclining chair. This allows you to set the recline at the level most comfortable for you.
What does this treatment involve?
Most patients will have a wet towel wrapped around the neck and a wet towel around the feet. We will then attach electrodes to the towels and begin FSM treatment.
If I have additional questions prior to treatment, how do I reach Addison’s Chiropractic?
We ask that you please explore all information and links provided on this site first. Due to the huge amount of interest in our Treatment Program and the large number of people reaching out, we ask that you please make a list of any additional questions to ask at your initial consultation. A 30 minute phone session is also available for $85.00 for educational purposes only.
Can I just come in for a single visit?
Our goal is to help you be successful with this treatment, so we have aligned our Treatment Program to match the results of our study. The effects of FSM are cumulative and those who are consistent with regular treatments see the best results. Additional visits are available in our program, but we do not offer single visits.
What does the FSM treatment feel like?
Most patients will not feel the Microcurrent during treatment.
What is the difference between a TENS unit and a FSM device?
Due to differences in current levels, microcurrent works very differently than TENS therapy. Microcurrent uses micro-amps (one millionth of an amp). This is generally not felt on the surface area of the skin. TENS therapy utilizes thousands of amps and is felt on the skin.
Is there any published information available on the treatment of EDS with FSM?
In addition to the EDS patients we have successfully treated, we have active participants with EDS who have allowed us to gather data regarding the treatment of EDS with FSM. We will be using this data to support our findings in the near future.
Is FSM helpful for other issues related to EDS?
Yes. We have treated EDS patients with symptoms from tethered cord, tendinitis, pain from dislocations, post-surgical healing and pain, nerve pain and much more. Results may vary, but patients have reported positive results with other non-pain related EDS symptoms. Some have even reported positive results with feeling increased joint stability.
Do you offer financing?
We accept Care Credit
.
How do I schedule my appointments to begin the Treatment Program?
Please complete our online questionnaire and our EDS Coordinator will assist with scheduling your appointments.
What have others with EDS experienced with FSM?
We have treated many EDS patients successfully. You can find a listing of some patient testimonials below.
I live out-of-state, what options do I have for receiving treatment?
We highly recommend making plans to visit our clinic for consultation and a few treatments so that we may evaluate your needs and customize your treatment. Then consider purchasing a prescribed device preloaded with the protocols to meet your specific needs for at home use.
We can offer a 30 minute phone consultation for $85.00 for educational purposes only.
Our Out-of-State Treatment Package includes a 5 visit assessment and treatment program with follow-ups. This treatment program includes an initial tele visit consult to answer any questions you may have prior to your first visit, 6 monthly follow-up tele-visits, initial exam, 5 in office treatments spread over 3-5 days and 1 or more prescribed Microcurrent devices tailored and customized to meet your specific needs. This will allow you to continue treatment from the comfort of your own home.
How much is a FSM device for home treatment?
FSM devices can be prescribed for at home use and come preloaded with the protocols needed to meet your specific needs for $2500 each. The EDS protocols we utilize were designed and customized specifically for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome exclusively by Dr. Jason Addison and were proven successful during our study. Most of our patients choose to purchase two devices. It is possible to treat with one device, but because of the number of protocols needed to be run we highly recommend two devices for the best results. To make it easier for patients, we extend a discount for those wishing to purchase multiple devices.
How often will I need to treat at home?
We advise trying to run all of your prescribed protocols two to three times a week to start. You may find that over time you can go longer in between treatments. Having a home unit can be helpful in the event you overdo it and need to manage pain right away.
What happens if I purchase a device for home and need help with new issues or surgeries?
Many patients with devices at home still choose to visit our office for treatments on occasion and for follow ups. EDS can be unpredictable resulting in surgeries, new injuries such as dislocations, tendinitis and other unexpected issues. We are able to customize and load additional protocols should the need arise during your visit. FSM can be very helpful for post-surgical recoveries. Many patients with their own device also find it convenient to come in for treatment to have all of their protocols run at one time.
Is this treatment option cost-effective?
We understand that the costs of receiving proper care for EDS can add up quickly. The great part about our Treatment Program is that should you decide to purchase your own prescribed devices, you can then treat from the comfort of your own home at any time. This also gives you the advantage of treating yourself immediately should you overdo it or experience a flare without the inconvenience of scheduling appointments, waiting to be seen or leaving your own home.
When considering the cost of other available treatments such as repeated procedures and those with ongoing co-pays, this can be a very cost-effective long-term treatment option.
Do you have any guidance for those facing financial hardships to receive Treatment?
For those facing financial hardship, we are happy to provide an eBook written by fellow EDSer Belinda who had to fundraise 4x to save her own life. It provides tips on how to fundraise and on building an online presence. You may request your free copy through our website form.
We also accept Care Credit for those who would like to make payments.
