Treatment  That  Works

Success defined in a different way

As a Sports Chiropractor for over 15 years, we have seen many young athletes from cheerleaders to gymnasts who exhibit the symptoms of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD).

Many are hypermobile, have widespread body pain or pain in various areas, dislocate and bruise easily, take longer to heal and frequently return to our clinic with new injuries.

We began implementing the Beighton Scale and given a review of their medical history suspect that many of these patients likely have EDS or HSD. This has led to the development of a treatment program for all ages where we are seeing great success using Frequency-Specific Microcurrent (FSM).

Many patients are seeing dramatic improvement in both pain and mobility. We’ve even had patients who were once primarily bedridden now able to fully function in daily life after undergoing treatment.

As interest and popularity of this treatment option for EDS has grown in our clinic, we’ve had patients from all over reach out regarding FSM treatment. We are providing a list of frequently asked questions to assist in your decision to treat with FSM. When you are ready to schedule your consultation and treatment, please complete the following questionnaire and a member of our team will be happy to assist you. We look forward to helping you

Frequently

Asked Questions!

What is Frequency-Specific Microcurrent (FSM)?

FSM is a non-pharmaceutical, non-surgical, non-invasive and non-chiropractic treatment option to manage EDS symptoms and provide relief of pain. This technology can be found in places such as The Cleveland Clinic, Walter Reed and in professional sports. Addison Chiropractic and Sports Clinic is a certified provider in the use of Frequency-Specific Microcurrent.

The Cleveland Clinic describes Frequency-specific microcurrent (FSM) as “a way to relieve pain using very low levels of electrical current. This treatment option can be used on specific tissues in your body to help with pain caused by injuries or medical conditions. It’s typically painless.”
Cleveland Clinic has the following page providing additional information on FSM: Cleveland Clinic FSM

How long do FSM treatments take?

Treatments last approximately one hour. We have invested heavily in FSM devices so that we have the ability to run all EDS related protocols during your visit.

How often will I need to treat?

This will vary per patient and their specific needs. We are seeing the best results in those who treat two to three times a week to start then gradually tapering off as the results begin to have a cumulative effect.

Will I be comfortable during my treatment?

To best suit the specific needs of each patient, we offer treatment in a fully reclining chair. This allows you to set the recline at the level most comfortable for you.

What does this treatment involve?

Most patients will have a wet towel wrapped around the neck and a wet towel around the feet. We will then attach electrodes to the towels and begin FSM treatment.

What does the FSM treatment feel like?

Most patients will not feel the Microcurrent during treatment.

What is the difference between a TENS unit and a FSM device?

Due to differences in current levels, microcurrent works very differently than TENS therapy. Microcurrent uses micro-amps (one millionth of an amp). This is generally not felt on the surface area of the skin. TENS therapy utilizes thousands of amps and is felt on the skin.

If I have additional questions prior to treatment, how do I reach Addison’s Chiropractic?

We ask that you please explore all information and links provided on this site first. Due to the huge amount of interest in treating EDS with FSM and the large number of people reaching out, we ask that you please make a list of any additional questions to ask at your initial consultation. A 30 minute phone session is also available for $100.00 for educational purposes only

Is there any published information available on the treatment of EDS with FSM?

In addition to the EDS patients we have successfully treated, we have active participants with EDS who have allowed us to gather data regarding the treatment of EDS with FSM. We will be using this data to support our findings in the near future. You can also find a webinar on the treatment of EDS on the Frequency-Specific website. Frequency-Specific Website

Is FSM helpful for other issues related to EDS?

Yes. We have treated EDS patients with symptoms from tethered cord, tendinitis, pain from dislocations, post-surgical healing and pain, nerve pain and much more. Results may vary, but patients have reported positive results with other non-pain related EDS symptoms. Some have even reported positive results with feeling increased joint stability.

How do I schedule my initial appointment?

Please complete the questionnaire below and a member of our team will assist with scheduling your appointment.

What have others with EDS experienced with FSM?

We have treated many EDS patients successfully. You can find a listing of some patient testimonials below.

What is the cost of FSM treatment in the clinic?

We are offering a discounted rate of $70.00 per FSM treatment for EDS and HSD through 2024 to bring more awareness of this treatment option to the EDS Community. The initial exam with treatment is $135.00.

I live out-of-state, what options do I have for receiving treatment?

We highly recommend making plans to visit our clinic for consultation and a few treatments so that we may evaluate your needs and customize your treatment. Then consider purchasing a prescribed device preloaded with the protocols to meet your specific needs for at home use.
We can offer a 30 minute phone consultation for $100.00 and 1 hour for $185.00 for educational purposes only.

How much is a FSM device for home treatment?

A FSM device can be prescribed for at home use. It comes preloaded with the protocols needed to fit your specific needs for $2500 each.

How often will I need to treat at home?

We advise trying to run all of your prescribed protocols two to three times a week to start. You may find that over time you can go longer in between treatments. Having a home unit can be helpful in the event you overdo it and need to manage pain right away.

What happens if I purchase a device for home and need help with new issues or surgeries?

Many patients with devices at home still choose to visit our office for treatments on occasion and for follow ups. EDS can be unpredictable resulting in surgeries, new injuries such as dislocations, tendinitis and other unexpected issues. We are able to customize and load additional protocols should the need arise during your visit. FSM can be very helpful for post-surgical recoveries. Many patients with their own device also find it convenient to come in for treatment to have all of their protocols run at one time.

Patient Testimonials

“I’ve been on a debilitating health journey with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome over the past 12 years that included 4 life-saving brain and spinal surgeries. Most of my time was spent bedridden in unbearable 10 out of 10 pain that dominated my entire life. I could only tolerate sitting upright or standing for a few minutes at a time and struggled to complete any type of household chore. After exhausting every traditional option for pain relief, I began treatment with Frequency-Specific Microcurrent.

Following my third treatment, I was brought to tears because for the first time in 12 years I experienced full resolution of my pain that lasted a full 24 hours. I was able to sit up, stand and even complete chores around the house without any pain. As I continued treatment, I found that I could go even longer in between treatments with my pain effectively managed. When I would have an EDS flare or overdo it in between treatments and my pain would begin to return, it not only was much milder than in my past, but sometimes it would completely resolve on its own simply with rest. I no longer had to worry about my pain becoming unbearable, because my next treatment would fully resolve it again and provide long lasting relief.

Frequency-Specific Microcurrent has completely given me my life back and the ability to function again. It has been so effective in managing my pain, that I have even been able to taper my opioid pain medications. Having a unit at home preloaded with my protocols has been amazing for me. If I overdo it or have an EDS flare, I simply run my protocols and have relief again.

After being primarily bedridden for over a decade, I was even able to return to school and become a Certified Health and Wellness Coach so that I can help others in their journey to better health. I no longer feel like I’m just surviving with EDS, but I am actually thriving and enjoying a fulfilling life. I have found Frequency-Specific Microcurrent to be the most effective, reliable, affordable and easiest tool available to manage my pain.”

“I have had muscular contractural Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (mcEDS), Autism, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) almost all of my life. I have been extremely active throughout my whole entire life whether it had been from playing sports like soccer, swimming, powerlifting, to now an adapted/scaled version of CrossFit.
Ehlers Danlos Syndrome flared up when I was around the age of 21 (29 now) and everything hit a massive regression in exhaustion, tension, inflammation, and pain. I was fully capable before the flare and was about to move out to live on my own. My body had other plans and everything backfired. I barely was able to graduate school due to the pure exhaustion and did not want/have the ability to do schoolwork that I was passionate for. I used to cook full meals and slowly was not able to even do this as the exhaustion, pain, and the exertion was too great. This was all from an EDS flare up. I feel like over this past year, before my diagnosis of EDS, I felt like I was living in an alternate universe. This universe was full of pain/confusion/worry. I just felt like this alternate universe consumed me for so long.

I found out about frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) through my physical therapist. I got in contact with Addison Chiropractic and Sports Clinic two weeks ago and Jason began doing treatments for FSM. I was around 99% in pain, inflammation, and stress throughout my whole entire body. After the first treatment, that I received I noticed it dropped to around 60 percent. I had another treatment and it lowered again to about 25 percent. After the third treatment, I was pain, stress, and inflammation free at 0 percent. For the longest time, which was years, I worked a full entire day. I noticed I had way more energy and was even able to go for a 2 mile walk after working a full entire day. This may not sound like a big deal, but to me, I was beginning to reset the pieces back together in my life. These pieces have been missing for almost 8 years. I began thinking what happens if I try to cook a full meal for my family. I was able to do this with no issues, pain, or massive physical exertion.

With FSM, my life has completely changed and I have turned a complete 180 degree circle to the levels of pain, inflammation, and stress that occurs on my body from EDS. I know that EDS flares do and will happen. With the help of Jason, staff and FSM treatments, I now look at each day to be a new day and a new opportunity to do something I haven’t done in a while! It is insane to me how much more freedom I have and how I am not in a survival mode anymore. How much a cage has been opened and I have been inside it for so long. It is the excitement of being free and not held back from pain, tension, and worry with the help of Addison Chiropractic clinic and FSM treamtents.”
